What We Built, What's Coming.
This edition: a look back at Occlusion Two, what's coming up in Fixed Prosthodontics, and two announcements we've been sitting on for a while.
Occlusion Two, Done.
Two weeks ago we wrapped Occlusion Two at our teaching centre in Frenchs Forest. It was a good weekend.
We opened with a full revision of Occlusion One, not just a recap, but a real discussion. These were clinicians who had been applying the concepts in practice, so the conversation had depth. That is what happens when you build courses sequentially and give people time to actually use what they have learned.
The bulk of the weekend was spent on articulators. A mock case, mounted up with digitally altered teeth. The group waxed up tooth by tooth, watching in real time how cusp shape and anatomy respond to mandibular movement. Then we moved into composite, repeated the same exercises, and finished with digital smile design and an anterior wax up with a focus on anterior disclusion.
Watching clinicians see that connection for the first time, tooth form dictated by function, is one of the more satisfying things we do here.
Great group. Thoughtful questions. Already looking forward to the next one.
IN TWO WEEKS
Fixed Prosthodontics, 3 to 4 July
This one is close to full.
Two days with Dr Tom Giblin covering crowns, bridges, and veneers on natural teeth. The focus is on diagnosis, case selection, preparation design, and long term performance. Not new techniques. Better thinking before you pick up a handpiece.
If you have been sitting on this, now is the time. Very few spots remaining.

WHAT'S COMING UP
Something Else Is Coming
We are not ready to announce this fully yet, but we will say this much. Dr Tom Giblin and Professor Axel Spahr are putting together a major implant course. That combination, and what they are planning, is worth paying attention to. More soon.
Worth knowing
Our facility is available for hire.
Sydney Dental Academy is based at Frenchs Forest, just 20 minutes from the city. It's a purpose built specialist facility in a professional clinical environment, and it's available for events.
The space is flexible. The teaching room seats up to 120 theatre style, or 50 to 60 with desks. There's a courtyard that can accommodate up to 200 to 300 people for larger occasions. Full AV is included and catering can be organised.
Being in the dental industry is a bonus if that's relevant to you, but the space works just as well for any professional event. Easy to get to, no fuss, and great value.

COMING SOON
The SDA Study Club
We have been quietly building this for a while now. Real clinical sessions, real case discussion, and some genuinely impressive people in the room every month.
Dr Tom Giblin has been putting this together carefully. More details in the next few weeks. Worth keeping an eye on.
Thanks for being part of this. SDA exists because we care deeply about education, about giving dentists the opportunity to learn from great minds, to collaborate, and to keep raising their standard of care. Every event, every course, every session is built around that. We're excited about what's ahead and grateful to have you with us.
