A Clinical Course on Periodontal Stability and Restorative Success
In Sydney over 2 days at the Sydney Dental Academy.
OVER 2 DAYS IN SYDNEY
Learn how to plan restorations that respect tissue biology and stay stable.
A focused two day course on how periodontal tissues and restorations work together. On natural teeth. On implants. In everyday clinical practice.
This course looks at the decisions that sit between periodontics and restorative dentistry. The ones that determine whether work stays stable or fails over time. It is built around real cases, real problems, and clear planning logic.
Taught by Dr Tom Giblin and Prof Axel Spahr, this course brings restorative and periodontal thinking together in one clear clinical framework.
What the course covers
- Periodontal and peri implant anatomy and biology, what matters clinically
- Biologic width and why it drives gingival stability and long term health
- How to modify and optimise restorative sites using surgery, grafting, and orthodontics
- Implant planning with a clear focus on emergence profile and soft tissue outcomes
- Restorative materials and how they influence gingival response over time
- Maintenance protocols that protect restorations and implants long term
Â
How it is taught
This is not theory heavy. It is decision focused.
You will work through cases that show where planning breaks down and how to fix it. You will see how small changes in tissue management, restoration design, and sequencing lead to more predictable outcomes.
The emphasis is on judgement. Knowing what to do. When to do it. And what to avoid.
Who this course is for
- Dentists placing or restoring implants
- Dentists managing complex restorative cases
- Clinicians dealing with ongoing gingival or peri implant problemsDentists who want restorations that last, not repairs
Key outcome
You leave with a clearer way to think about periodontal tissues in restorative planning. Fewer compromises. Better stability. More predictable results.
